Which ASWB exam you sit is decided by your jurisdiction, and the license titles vary enormously between them — LBSW in one state, LSW in the next, LSWA in a third for broadly the same thing.
We publish a state’s requirements only once we have read them on that board’s own site, and every page carries the date we last checked. Rules change, and a confident-looking page that is a year stale is worse than no page. 48 of 51 have been through that check so far.
“Pre-approval” marks the jurisdictions the ASWB Examination Guidebook names as requiring approval through ASWB Licensing Services before you can register for the exam. ASWB member boards in Canada and the US territories are not covered here yet.
